Would We Let God Run His Planet?

How well does man run the planet? Even though humans didn’t create it, we like to think we are the masters. Imagine a modern day ark builder being up against environmental groups, labor unions, the ACLU (accusations from atheists). Kind of humorous to think about, but what is the reality, really.

What if God appeared at the door of all religious institutions. What if he declared all religious activities obsolete since he was here to handle everything. What if he asked for all funds to be surrendered to him for the under-privileged everywhere, as he decided. Would there be joy or anger?

What if he started healing diseases. How would the American Medical Association, the pharmaceutical companies, and the FDA handle that. Would there be thankfulness or resentment?

What if he walked into mental institutions and prisons, blessing, healing and releasing captives. Would the judges, doctors and police trust him to take responsibility for his actions?

What if he went into every school district office and announced he would be deciding what is taught and who would do the teaching. Would the National Education Association be offended? Would there be teacher strikes?

What if he appeared in Congress and announced he would run the country now. Would the politicians be ready to walk away? Would special interest groups be able to let go?

What if he went to Wall Street and announced all trading would cease because his new world wouldn’t be dependent on the money market. Suppose he went to the Federal Reserve and appointed himself head over all monetary matters. How happy would the hearers of these words be?

How appreciated would this intervention into our control of the planet be? Would the shock wave of God's presence here be greater than the realization that we can no longer run the world the way we want to? Would a creator have a right to take back what is His?

Could this scenario be possible? An omnipresent God can be everywhere at once, but how would all of us see it unless He was just darting around at the speed of light. The answer is in the design of His appearing: In human form, just like Jesus had. “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” (John 12:24 NIV) Jesus was the firstborn of many brethren.

Jesus' death and resurrection gave him his rightful place of authority to our realm. He became the Head of a many membered Body. This body has no power just sitting on pews or even standing in pulpits. Religion has always been and still is powerless to change our world. But a Christ-led body of people (whether seen or working secretly, behind the scenes) could appear as God all over the world at the same time.

2 Thes 2:8 speaks of a man of sin being destroyed by Christs’ coming. When He destroys this man of sin (our Adamic nature) with the brightness of His coming (the Holy Spirit in us), heaven has come to earth. Only then will our hell of chaos and disorder, with all the selfish agendas that exist, be overtaken. No amount of legislation, no amount of treaties, no new wars, no conquering of any kind by man will change our world. Because mankind will remain tainted on the inside and will continue on in its previous cycles. God must seize us, and touch our lives by His inner working to fix all that is wrong with our souls. What a glorious day to behold! Will it happen? Could it be possible? What if?
